What is Verdantia Care?Verdantia Care is a home care provider dedicated to delivering compassionate, personalised support to adults in the comfort of their own homes. We are an independent care company founded and operated by Melaluna Sykes, a dedicated professional with over 16 years of experience in adult social care. Our aim is to provide one-to-one care rooted in dignity, empathy, and excellence.

Who delivers the care?All care is currently delivered by Melaluna Sykes, our founder and Registered Manager. She has extensive care experience across residential and domiciliary settings, including leadership roles within HC-One. Mel holds: • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) • Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care • Apprenticeship in Adult Social Care • Ongoing annual training in Safeguarding, MCA & DoLS, Moving & Handling, Infection Control, and more

What qualifications and training does your care worker have?Melaluna holds the following, with all certificates on file and available for inspection: • NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma & Certificate in Adult Social Care • Enhanced DBS (current and renewed) • Manual Handling • Medication Awareness • Safeguarding Adults • Mental Capacity Act (MCA) & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) • Infection Control • Functional Skills in English & Maths Annual CPD is maintained in accordance with CQC guidance.

Are you insured?Yes. Verdantia Care holds full public liability insurance and employers’ liability insurance for the provision of home care services.

Are your services regulated by the CQC?CQC registration is currently in progress. Until formal approval is granted, all care is provided legally as a private arrangement, with clear documentation, risk assessments, and full safeguarding standards upheld. We are working with a CQC advisor to ensure full compliance in preparation for inspection.

What policies and procedures do you have in place?We maintain a full suite of policies aligned with CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs), including: • Safeguarding Adults Policy • Confidentiality and Data Protection (GDPR) • Complaints and Compliments Procedure • Infection Prevention & Control • Medication Administration & Support • Equality, Diversity, and Human Rights • Mental Capacity & Consent Policy • Health and Safety • Lone Worker Policy • Risk Assessment Procedure • Whistleblowing Policy • Care Planning and Review • Record Keeping and Documentation Standards These are reviewed regularly and updated in line with CQC guidance and local authority best practice.

How do you handle medication?We support clients with medication prompts and, where needed, administer medication with consent and under clear protocols. All medication records are documented in a MAR (Medication Administration Record) chart, and training is updated annually.

How do you keep clients safe at home?Before care begins, we conduct a full home risk assessment and client needs assessment, covering: • Environmental risks • Falls risk • Infection control • Manual handling needs • Personal preferences and history All visits are documented and follow a care plan tailored to each client. Emergency procedures are in place, and Mel carries a lone worker phone with GPS check-ins.

How do you handle complaints or concerns?We welcome feedback. All concerns are taken seriously and investigated through our Complaints Procedure, which ensures: • Acknowledgment within 2 working days • Full investigation within 14 days • Written response and follow-up • Escalation route to CQC if necessary Complaints are reviewed to improve service delivery and learning.
